There are few examples of really good prequels (see  ‘Batman Begins’ voted best prequel of all time, or ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’, ‘Casino Royale’ and  ‘Red Dragon’) but most of prequels are crappy. This article name a few of them in sci-fi category.
